Children’s Birthday Parties and Group parties

Location: We have the option that we can bring the party to you – this can be in the home or a local hall or venue of your choice. We work with our partner Carnival Parties who provide off-site events. At our Claydon centre there is a choice of hot or cold food, party games and a “mix and match” of workshops and playing in the Discovery centre, where we would be pleased to host your party.

Dates: The Kinetic team are always busy with parties and so we recommend reserving a date as soon as possible and the type of party could be decided later. If you have an idea of times as well then, we can see what time slots are available.

Plan of the party: All parties are for a two-hour duration which includes 1.5 hours entertainment and allowing half an hour for the food. We suggest always having the food at the end of the party and so the offer will be made with timings to suit ending with the food. We do not have the facilities for you to bring your own food, however we also offer a party package without the food if required and offering to just come along to play. All party packages include a party host to ensure you have a good time. There is a minimum of 12 children for every party and a maximum of 10 adults staying with the children. If you book 20 children then you pay for 19 and there are discounts for over 20 children attending. Parties include a small gift for the party child from the Kinetic team.

Type of party: As we are a Science Discovery Centre we offer a choice of two SCIENCE themes at the centre and two alternatives –

1) Mad Scientist Party
2) Astronaut Party
3) Cookery Party
4) Arts and Crafts and “Make it” Party

There are various types of parties to choose from. We have some rooms of the science centre to explore as part of the package. We offer a mix and match for all parties and the most popular are listed here and give a guide to prices. Our most popular is a workshop and to explore the centre experience as one party theme!

Party Food on site and included in the price:

A. Play in the centre followed by food – £15 per child
B. One party game and then play in the centre – 1.5 hours guided play – £17 per child
C. Workshop (40 mins) and play in centre (45 mins) without party game – £19 per child.
D. Party game, mini workshop, play in the centre – 1.5 hours in total – £20 per child

Food not included:

E. One party game followed by a play in the centre or a play in the centre including time in the lab with experiments – 1.5 hours guided play – £12 per child

• Mini experiments (age 4+)
• Slime (age 4+)

Astronaut –
• Air Rockets (summer only) (age 7+)
• Mini experiments (age 4+)
• Space experiments (age 6+)
• Stars and Planets Art Activity (age 5+)

Cookery –
– Making cakes and or cookies – Pizza making

Arts and Crafts –
– Making a treasure box – Badges and keyrings

Food Provided
Choice of Sandwiches and Crisps OR Finger buffet (veg sticks, sausage rolls, cheese etc)

Followed by Jelly and Ice cream OR Biscuits, fruit and mini cakes

Hot food available for any parties booked that take part after December 2024

Next steps: If you wish to book a party, then email us back with a proposed date and we will send you a booking form. The completion of the form reserves the date. You can resend this form again later with the food choices and an idea of numbers. Once we receive this and your deposit then the party is reserved for you. We will ask for final numbers 48 hours before the party and this is the number you will pay for on the day. Please note our minimum number of guests is 12 and so even if you invite 8 children you will be required to pay for 12 on the day.

Groups Themed Parties

Location: If you are a group that would like a special party then let us bring the party to you – this can be in a local hall or venue of your choice. At our Claydon centre there is a choice of hot or cold food, party games and a “mix and match” of workshops and playing in the Discovery centre, where we would be pleased to host your party.

Themed Parties: We offer Christmas Parties, Halloween parties and more so why not get in touch. In the past we have provided a Christmas Party for a junior football club, a naming ceremony and a youth club “Halloween” themed party. There are a lot of options and it does not have to have a science theme and Carnival Parties will provide this at the centre for you.

Party in a Box

Unable to go to a venue or our centre (maybe you have a poorly child or are unable to travel), then let us bring the party to you in a box. The box can include any items from our list, Balloons, Streamers, Banners, party game suggestions that are played without mobility, wrapped pass the parcel, prizes, party hats, tablecloths, paper cups and paper plates, straws, candles for the cake etc. You will have the choice of a “Science” themed party or an “Arts and Crafts” themed party.

Private Party Hire

We do offer the chance to privately hire and have exclusive use of the Discovery centre.

There will still be staff on site to make sure your party is a success and then you can have the building to yourself. Contact us for more details if you would like to know more.
